    SA buckle -straight wings!

    Hello Guys,

here are some images of a Sa buckle that I found a few weeks ago on a little militaria show. It is a rare variant with straight wings. This was the first time ever that I saw this variant for sale. The seller didn't notice the straight wings and I payed the price for a regular SA buckle.

    Cheers

Indeed a lucky find since it's among the rarest SA buckles....

As Ric has so rightly confirmed, this buckle is one of the most rare SA's and by any definition. The horizontal wing SA is also highly desirable and primarily due to and in my opinion, the erroneous early SS association. It is in my opinion an SA buckle, no more and no less, although it was more than likely manufactured by Overhoff und Cie. There is however a slight possibility that this very limited, early and experimental production SA, was withdrawn by Overhoff when they started to produce their SS buckle, in order to protect the exclusivity of their coveted horizontal wing eagle design SS buckle.

A super SA buckle and attached is an image of another, as exact to the one shown.

Attached also is another of the well known "horizontal wing" SA's.

        Regards,

        David
