          With these photos and without being able to measure it, is difficult to know if it is good, but the length and the shape of the prongs seem to be correct

            thanks for your reply and help, its hard with this as apart from not being great on the alloy ss i think there are about 3 different types of this model, cheers dave

                thanks guys well fingers crossed i have just pulled the trigger on this on a buy it now on ebay now did i do right by staying in and buying this or should i have gone out to the local for a few beers, cheers dave

                        Holy smoke Dave I´m sorry for the bad advice if Rick is correct and he is more experienced in the buckles than I will ever be

                        But to me it looks/looked good with the nice prongs.

                            It IS a repro. The first photo shows it all. Ivan is indeed correct stating there was three different Types of 822/38's, but those are very distinct! They do not bear such thing as minor difference. Their markings are different, their dies are also different, etc...
                            Instead those cast fakes are cast FROM an original, so everything should be absolutely identical to the original model except few points (major been smaller size but hard to tell from a photo). You should learn those points (do not ask me). It takes time but nothing impossible.
