I thought this DJ buckle would be of interest. It has an early RZM KH28 marking as well as the PuC mongram of Ludenscheid maker Paulmann & Crone. It is attached as found to a 31" belt marked RZM DJ/Ausf 2 L2/2189/38.

Thanks. The belt RZM stamp does appear to be 38 and I'd agree the buckle is earlier. Perhaps someone with more expertise can comment on when RZM code format became universal and excluded maker logos.
One would presume that a revision in RZM regulations would have filtered into actual practice over an extended period depending on the manufacturer and its urgency to read, comply with and then bother to implement changes.
How the belt and buckle came together is anyone's guess - the ponderable possibilties are endless: the buckle could be a hand-me-down from an older brother (cousin, friend, neighbor..) who went into the HJ; the RZM shop had older buckle inventory; etc etc.

Aside from the early marked buckle, what I like about this set is that the belt is actually "DJ" RZM marked. That seems to be the inspiration for some collectors to ask me to break up the set in my eStand listing.
Chad, you indicated that the Paulmann and Crone KH number was 78. Is that a typo or was the number changed to 28?Last edited by paulj; 10-06-2007, 11:22 AM.
