Right Facing '36 Heer buckle

This is one that I've been after for quite a while. It's a 40mm private purchase. I would have prefered the larger reg. size buckle but this one is possibly even harder to find. From what I gather, this buckle was only produced for three months (?) from January 1936 to March 1936.
For buckle rookies - what makes this one different is not just the size of the buckle, but rather the direction in which the eagle is looking. All other Heer buckles show the eagle looking to his left - this one shows him looking to the right!

This is the last buckle I picked up recently - so with the other three buckles I just posted, I'm tapped out! This was the cash I was saving for the Max, but can't make it this year - so I splurged - and now I'm almost broke!! heh heh

Rob, Buckle rookie here...Congratulations first off! Always nice to finally find something you have lusted after for some time...

Now...Your new buckle displays what seem to me to be some peculiarities.

The box is not folded over onto the catch rivet. The ears are straight up.

The two prongs look to be cut at right angles to one another. Is this the case? Hard to tell from the photo.

Hi Jerry...no probs on the questions. First off, the prongs do appear to have that "cut" to them. Yes, these are often used on reproductions, but the cuts are much "sharper".
These prongs are well known as Overhoff and Companie prongs (so I'm assuming that the buckle is and OLC buckle).
No, the box is not folded over. That was what I was referring to as the "ears" of the buckle. On 40mm buckles (smaller than standard buckle) it is typical to see this type of setup.
