Late War Polizei buckle and tab

Hey gang....Here's another that showed up on my doorstep!
Nice late war piece....Quality was sure lacking this late in the war....Does anyone know exactly when the production of these types of buckles was started? 1944? 1945? Thanks for any info you can send my way!

    Cheers!

    Rob

I love the real "spaced out" pebbling on these - and how they really stick out!

Finally - I took a shot of all my TR police buckles (yes, even the denazi'd one - still a piece of history!)

    Cheers!

Hello Rob I'm not sure the buckle is late war. Wasn't 42 the last year you find tabs? Kirby

That's a good point Kirby! '42 was the last year that I've ever noted on tabs....Could these tabs have been produced only for these buckles? That being said: the leather on my example is super low quality compared to the other tabs found on some of my other buckles.
I also considered this a late war buckle as the quality in the buckle itself (the injection moulding) is quite poor....

Anyone else have opinions on when these buckles were introduced?

            Cheers!

              Rob,

These buckles were discussed pretty extensively on the GD police forum awhile back. I was an early doubter of these buckles but persuasive argument convinced me they are wartime buckles. I think the concensus was that they might have been produced in an as yet unknown German occupied country. The poor quality control of the process, metal material, and Ersatz leather tabs seem to argue against German manufacture.

              I hope this helps.

                C. Th. Dicke did produce Police buckles tabbed up to 1943.
