Hello Gentlemen,
A very unappreciated buckle in my opinion with several attributed variants. Each one is different; the hands, the wrist position, the fingers or thumb, laurel wreath, raised or inset NSBO lettering, pebbling or smooth texture on the inside dome or even no dome, rope or no rope. Here are six from my collection.

this I believe to be one of the more difficult to find of the NSBO buckle family; a brass 2-piece surrounded only by a thick rope strand with a pebbling insert and a very defined hand, fingers and thumb encircling the hammer. NSBO lettering are stamped into the cog wheel.Comment

the reverse shows the roundle secured by two solder points and a "u-bar" catch.Comment

this one is also fairly difficult to come across - a brass box with a frosted roundle, encircled by a complete wreath. The thumb has the most pronounced first knuckle showing than any other NSBO buckleComment

This one is similar to the one shown by Ron in the original post and by David and Kirby. Another 2-piece, brass box with an afixed roundle looking to be made of either nickle or pewter. Beautiful design of the roundle with large raised NSBO lettering , laurel wreathing on the left and oak wreathing on the right with bow at the lower center. The interior pebbling on the dome is very pronounced as is the hammer , hand, and cog wheel. Very nice detailing on this piece.Comment

This is an O&C manufactured NSBO buckle. Brass box and silver roundle with pronounced raised and smooth center dome. Also notice the NSBO letters are raised on the gear.Comment

This is similar to the last buckle and it even looks as if the boxes were created on the same machine. Brass on brass with raised smooth dome but hand, thumb and fingers are different.Comment
