    Totenkopf...original or fake ?

    Hello,

although not my field, I may report that general consensus does consider it a modern repro : in such case chimically aged.

Totally agree with Ric, although perhaps, a fantasy rather than a fake per se.

Invariably with erroneous descriptions to include "Freikorp", "Brunswick". "Hussar" et al and seen in both gold and silver, with various catch devices.

A gentle word of warning though. I have seen what I consider to be an original and period buckle which has a jolly similar Totenkopf design. The distinct skull and crossbones design, although on a narrow wreath edged roundel, which is then attached to a brass box.

      Regards,

      David
