      Hello

      That you are called the ears?

      The prongs and post sleeve are oxidized due to the fact that they are of ferric material

            By early regulations only the front had to be finished with dull grey paint. Most, if not all, Overhoff production was finished to be conform to the above, leaving a raw unpainted back. So maybe your buckle did not even receive any paint at all on the ears to begin with.
