    Hello,
    Again an 822 / 42 but this one has one thing that I think is very interesting.
    This buckle is 100 % original with wartime silver paint. The interesting part is that one can clearly see that the metal under the paint is corroded but the paint is still on top of it. It looks like as the buckle has been painted over the oxidation but this is not the case here.
    Just thought that it might be interesting for some of you to see that paint over oxidation and even holes is not necessarily the result of a post war alteration.
    Some metal, especially aluminium and zinc can corrode under the protection layer (paint) and do not necessarily have to be in direct contact with O2. This is something coin collectors know very well as it happens frequently on German, Belgium, French (and other) zinc and aluminium coins from the war period.
