    unknown brass buckle

    Hello,

is it a sympathizers buckle pre 45 or just a fake? It looks like handmade.
    Opinions please.

    Best Regards

    Heiko

In my opinion, these so called "Kampfzeit" or early period "Sympathiser" buckles are both fraught with danger and jolly interesting.

The one that you have shown is and in my opinion, not a fake and rather, a fantasy item. I have seen this roundel before and unfortunately, as a modern made device as part of a sham "rustic" or "hand crafted" family.

I think that you have a hybrid here, insofar as an original brass box with a modern, aged and fantasy roundel cleverly attached.

    Regards,

    David

      Hello Heiko,

I am in total agreement with David on this in that this is a hybrid or redone buckle. The photo tells me that there was probably another roundel associated with this buckle in the beginning. When was the switch made? Your guess is as good as mine.
