    WW 1 bit of buckle

Is this the 1895 centre bit for the buckle on this cigarette case,it looks purpose made to compensate for buckle bit.I have also put this on the Imperial forum.

Have you seen one like this before?

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

Hello Marcus. This inset is identical to one i owned on a private purchase buckle & could have been removed from such a buckle.

In France & Belgium after WWI there was a big trade in tourist items of various kinds featuring what appear to be Prussian buckle insets.

However, on close inspection these do not match those seen on real German buckles, & were clearly made for this commercial use. These insets are found in varying diameters depending on their intended use, with small ones for match safes, etc.
