A 1940 heer buckle. I can only make out "MER" on the leather tab, anyone have an idea on the maker? Thanks,

Hi Van,

not easy to say with these images. It would be helpful to have some closer views of the obverse side.

But my first thoughts were, that the eagle looks like the one from H.Arld/ Nürnberg. The maker K.F. Brahm/ Fürth used the same eagle design.
Have you tried to make the lettering visible with baby powder? (Chad must have something for sure )

1940 is a late production! The prongs and the roller bar are of steel, a clue of this period in my eyes.
