What was this oversized buckle for ?????

    Hi all,

I just found this old buckle and wanted to have your opinions on it.
It was found by me and there was a nice early war LW belt attached to it. I found it on an attic, so it was untouched all the time.
Iam sure the LW belt was attached after the war by the farmer who had the house.
Now the question is what was the buckle for ? There are no markings at all. It looks like it was gilded once. Its nearly 9 cm wide.

    What could this be ?

hmmmm, I wish I could help you out. I don't recognize this type of buckle...or the construction for that matter....I'd love to hear from others if they can ID this buckle.....interesting!
            Good luck!

            Cheers!

Hi, thanks for the help, a miners buckle would be possible. Can I ask you for a pic of the backside of your buckle ?

                Many thanks Jens

I have that kind of buckle but the back isn't the same. The above pictured buckle looks like it had some kind of nut holding the roundel (or whatever it was) in place. The belt catch is different on my example as well.

                  Cheers....

Can I bother you for a pic of the Luftwaffe belt?

I've never seen a nicer Luftwaffe belt. If you get tired of it I will provide a happy home!
