    Hello,

    an interesting question.

I always considered it a post war reproduction, but I was never able to read Fellows opinion about such buckle.

I've the same type of buckle and I can't imagine that this buckle is made by Aurich.
I've bought it approx 5 years ago..and I think nobody had seen this brass buckle before they arrived on the market in the end of the 90th.

Look at the catch..it seems very breakable.

As Ric has quite rightly said, an interesting question and actually, a very interesting Polizei buckle.

In my opinion, this is an unusual and quite distinct fake. The detail on both the obverse and reverse is first class, however the buckle has something wrong or odd about it, which is somewhat hard to pin point. I do not like the metal of the buckle and also, the makers mark, which is totally non simpatico with the otherwise very well documented SchuPo-Koppelschloss.

I also think that the catch to this buckle is hollow metal, which is really a strange and otherwise unknown form of construction.

A very unusual and interesting fake in my opinion.

        Regards,

        David
