Unusual to see this DLV/RLB in nickle silver?

I may be totally wrong here, however I think that it is most unusual to see this particular DLV/RLB buckle in nickle silver. The one shown has a repaired catch and it is probably a period application, as it is so rough and ready. Attached also is the more commonly seen aluminium type of this buckle.
