    Deaths-Head emblem buckle by St. & L.

Any comments and perhaps in order to shed some light on this somewhat odd and enigmatic buckle, would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    David

            David,

An interesting buckle. Very likely a Weimar "Werewolf". Problem is there are a lot of fakes out there. I have not seen this mark before. The buckle looks to be a period piece from the construction. This probably doesn't help alot.

            Regards,

            Bill

                  Hello David,

judging the buckle itself by separated components, I would say the box is an original one made by Steinhauer & Lueck : same marks left on the ears by the folding tool and maker mark apparently left by the same die used on my SA/NSKK.
Regarding the skull emblem I like the way is fixed on and the nice details.
Just my 2 c , since Weimar is not my field.

                  Best

Thankyou for the comments chaps. All helpful and I must admit, I had a horrible feeling when posting this buckle that the silence may have been deafening. Bill, I would dearly like to associate this buckle as Wehrwolf, however I think that the Deaths Head emblem was appropriated by various organisations during the 1920's and early 1930's. Ric, thankyou for the confirmation in relation to the exact style of the makers mark. I have an image on file of an SA buckle with again, the St & L stamp and which fits perfectly with yours. Unfortunately I cannot post an image, as it was taken from a US dealers site on a sold buckle.

When time permits, I will post images of the distinct pin shroud seam - for the unmarked and nickle silver SS buckle aficionados.

                    Regards,

                    David
