not a military buckle but !

A friend of mine picked this buckle this weekend and asked me to find out anything I could, The buckle is one piece and appears to be nickel

I know its not military but;

what is it?
is it real and what period?
and value?

It is a trade buckle for the butcher.

Sorry Gary, it looks like a typical post war butchers buckle. You can find them cheap on many flea markets in Germany
