Hi All!
Stimulated also from Bens recent thread about the Schmidt and Paulmann & Crone Army buckles, I want to share my thoughts about "twin makers" with you.
I have observed these “twin buckles” from different makers now for several times. The assumption is that one of them is rather a buckle maker (and supplier) and the other one maybe a saddler or an assembler.
I can give the following examples:
H. Arld / N******252;rnberg => G.F.Brahm / F******252;rth
Paulmann & Crone / L******252;denscheid => J.Deutschbein / Euskirchen
Dransfeld & Co / Menden => Schmidt & Co.KG / Schwelm
C.W.Motz / Brandenburg a.H. => J.C. Maedicke / Berlin
The assumption was supported by the fact, that the distance between the several cities of these firms is not to far (about 50 to 100 km).
What do you think?
Have you further examples of these “twin makers” ?
Regards,
Guido
