my first SS buckle 822/38 or 155/40 ?

I'm about to buy my first SS buckle after quite a long agony before deciding and wait for some good pieces. later today I will be offered 2 SS buckles :one steel buckle marked 155/40 and an alloy one marked 822/38. They're supposed to be both original and in good shape.
Now, I will indeed choose the one that I like more once i have it in my hands (i'd wish i could buy both, but i'm on a tight budget) but since the price for both is the same which one is less common or more appreciated?
I tend to like more alloy buckles in general, but i saw some 155/40 here in the forum and they look very nice. I will post pics later this week-end

        Hello,

both the buckles are 100 % original, the alu one still has crisp details in spite of soft metal.

Btw, I could be interested in the steel one, any chance to contact the seller ? In the case email to: b.collector@yahoo.com

          Hi Ric,

thanks for the comfirmation. I've actually chose the alloy one because of the details still visible and the general good shape.
The steel one was about to be sold later that day, but I will check with my mate tomorrow.

Reading Peter Nash book, I noticed that my buckle has a slightly different markings if compared to the 822/38 pictured there. In particular, the circle around the runes isn't so thick on my buckle...

                Matt,

don't worry, there are 3 different markings all original and with the same code (822/38) : yours is one of them.

Btw, are you sure your marking is 822/38 ? By the pic it seems more like 822/37

                  Hi Ric,

I checked again and I am not really sure for the last digit. It is almost completely erased by wear. It could be easily a 7 instead of an 8
