    Wierd two piece Army Buckle

    Here's a new buy.

One of the wierdest Army buckles I've seen in years.

Two piece construction, with the center section made from what appears to be zinc.

Anyone know anything about this style?

    Thanks,
    Howard

      Howard,

My guess is it's the two-piece zinc Heer buckle made by Assmann. Examine the interior sidewall and see if you can find a small Assmann "A" within a circle. I believe after I posted my example for comments, Marc also found an identical logo mark on one of his zinc buckles. It's a rather small hallmark, so you really have to look closely. Yours certainly looks like it has the slightly curved claws or prongs associated with Assmann.

            Hello Gary,

            Thanks for the information.

I never thought to examine the inner sidewall.

Couldn't fine the Assmann logo. However, there is rust and heavy wear to the area. I'll examine it better Monday. Sunlight and a 10x loop should help.

            Thanks again,
            Howard

Hi Howard, does the eagle actually look like that on the buckle or is the picture a bit blurred? To me the eagle looks more like a parrot, I have never seen that type of eagle on a Heer buckle before! Just MO

                Not marking found.

Buckle has heavy wear, might have been worn off?

Ben, Photo of the bird is correct. Know you understand my questions about this piece. It's very wierd.

                Thanks for the help guys,
                Howard
