Thank you David, yes I would love to see some images please if you have the time. I have my doubts because of the shoddy pin shroud & the wavy edge to the box. It's also on sale with someone who specializes in images not hardware which I though odd.
This buckle does exist but in a slightly different configureration. I believe Marc had a thread on these buckles some time ago so you might want to try and pull that up. With that said this buckle is bad. Not a phantasy piece per say but with the wrong style eagle. The box may be bad too. I have seen this face-plate on bodies w/three solder points as well. It is easy enough to pull the face plate off and attach it to a good body which may have been done in this case.
Not quite sure what you mean by "...this buckle does exist but in a slightly different configureration..."
I still think that this roundel is a total fantasy.
Don
Here are the three horizontal wing SA's that I was wittering on about.
The first is the more common and is known in both yellow and white metals. A strong possibility that it was produced by Overhoff.
The second is an odd one, no more and no less.
The third however is referred to in at least one publication as a horizontal wing type. Obviously not, although the inclusion of this buckle perhaps provides an interesting comparison.
Interesting that Don posted this SA buckle. I've never seen this type before until last week when there was an identical buckle posted on ebay with a belt, now Don is posting this one, and I just noticed one is for auction on Manion's sight. Maybe a new fake?
