Strange holes in DAF belt set

Does anyone know why someone would drill holes in a DAF belt? They roughly correspond to the cross strap locations, and are pretty old. The belt is RZM marked and has a keeper that exactly matches the buckle for wear, materials, and finish. What piece of gear might these holes served to stabilize - guesses anyone?

May the forum enjoy the benefit of a full obverse and reverse image of your DAF-Werkschar buckle ?

With pleasure David; I'll post them this evening. However, the buckle is the common breed; it's these pesky belt holes that have my interest. Did the DAF have organizational equipment that hung from the belt which they may have chose to more permanently attach? The big hole is about where a bayonet would be (of the down side of a cross strap) - any ideas? s/f Robert

Thankyou for posting images of the DAF-Werkschar buckle.

Apologies though that I unable to help in connection with the strap, which is of course your prime query.

                  Super buckle though.

The brazed aluminium catch, together with the "small" toothed cog and swastika design type, which happens to be my favourite style of DAF-Werkschar.

                  Paulmann und Crone of course.

Attached are images of the exact same, that I hold.

                  Regards,

                  David
