4 A steel Schmolle Co. with a Chrome finish. I thought this might be a post war finish till I came across a identical buckle at the Max a few years ago. Any ideas what this was used for?

                          Hallo Kirby,

this is my opinion on the buckles posted :

1******176 no doubt on this one : a seldom seen original buckle probably by Schmole & Comp.

2******176 by the pics nothing wrong about the box, but may be the inset was replaced and all the front tan repainted.

3******176 no doubt on this one either : a well known fake

4******176 I agree with you : it could be post war chromed.....

5******176 A nice reworked Heer issued to Bavarian Police ? in 1946

                          Best

                          Ric

Hi Kirby, I have only ever seen one other of the No 1, very nice rare buckle No 3 is a fake I am beginning to wonder Kirby, you have posted some fantastic buckles, I am beginning to believe that you may have more than Ric!!! (if that is possible)

Hello Thanks for the info on #3. It's out of the collection. On buckle #4 with the chrome finish, i've that buckle for over thirty years and I always liked it. I was thinking a biker might have refinished the buckle but then I came across another identical Schmolle & Co. with the same finish. Now I think it might be period. Once again thanks for the info on #3. As far as the size of my collection. No I don't have as many as Ric. I love that great display case he has built into a wall. Do you have another case for your round buckles? KIRBY
