            I think so, David.

The exact same kind of crimped catch, but no marking here

                  Hello,
I was wondering; 2 of the 3 of my buckles in this post are barely used and early examples. Did they original had leather tabs on them?

It's to me a bit of a mystery to me wich were issued with the leather tabs and wich weren't. Can anysome help me with that?

                  Thanks!
                  Frank

Hi Frank, SS buckles were never issued with tabs and neither were HJ buckles. You may see the odd one around where the previous owner has had one put on but they were never issued that way. It is belived that he tab was there as a form of support for the ammo pouch, later in the war when leather was in short supply they stopped putting tabs on buckles. You will be hard pressed to find a buckle with a tab on after 1942. Hope this helps

                      Hello,
Thanks a lot! It's finally becoming clear to me.

If I'm correct, the RAD buckles were issued with tabs, but were SA, DAF and Heer/Luftwaffe parade buckles issued with tabs as well?

                      Thanks!

                      Frank

Hi Frank, I have never seen a SA, DAF buckle with a leather tab on, but this does not mean that there are none out there kicking around. Parade buckles do not normally have tabs on them but again, they are around, I have a two piece Heer parade buckle at home with a tab on (I would post you a pic but I am at work)
