My 'blue' RODO Waffen-SS buckle...

    My 'blue' RODO Waffen-SS buckle...

    Dear all,

    Hereby some pictures of my RODO Waffen-SS buckle that IMO has all the characteristics as we like to see it....however the buckle is painted in a shade of LW grey normally seen on late war (sometimes referred to coastal art.) Heeres buckles (like those made by JFS).
    IMO the paint is 100% period!

    Has anyone seen this variant? All comments are very welcome!

      Variant?
      I******180;m lucky when i find only one variant
      I guess ther are 2 variants.
      The difference is the rope betwen eagel beak and the wing.
      One with rope the other without.

            This is a good topic regarding the RODO "blue" buckles. I have talked to a few individuals that believe all RODO buckles were in fact painted the dark blue/black near the latter part pf the war. Can anyone substantiate this and if so are these buckles more scarce or just as common?

                      Thank you for sending along the URL on your indepth report that validates the "blue" RODO being more of a late war paint and somewhat more scarce or, some might say, a varient type. The paint on my buckle is almost 100% on the obverse with the exception of some high points and of course the reverse shows very good paint but with the expected normal wear.

                      The buckle shall remain in my collection for a while longer but should I need to part ways with it I will keep you in mind.
