Drooptail LW with odd leather tab

I have no doubt about the originality of this buckle, but dthe leather tab is something that I have not seen before. It is very thin and stamped to a leather goods manufacturer rather than being stamped to the maker of the buckle. Since this is an early buckle it seems odd to me that the leather on the tab is so thin. Any ideas?

Maybe the tab was added later, I would have though Richard Seiper would have put his own tab on, unless it was that early and they never used to have tabs on them buckles? Just food for thought!

        Hallo,

I'm not able to judge the tab's originality, but I notice an heavily worn early LW buckle with tab's stitching still perfect and its leather in excellent condition (by the pics): some doubts remain.

          Doubts

There is no doubt for me.
The tab is not original to the buckle.
It is obvious that the stiching is new.
Even original, the tab does not match the buckle.

I agree that the condition of the tab does not match the condition of the buckle. Aside from the fact that the leather is very thin, it does look authentic and appears to be old. Yes, the stitching looks very clean and does not match the tab or the buckle. So I guess the question now is if anyone else has seen a leather tab marked to a leather goods manufacturer instead of the buckle maker?

looks like buckle and tab are originall - but resewn together... stuching is 100% hand made modern.....
