Common fake. Easiest way to tell on these is the shape of the eagle's body compared to an original is very different. Also, too much detail in the wreath. There are other points as well but this buckle is seen over and over again with different maker marks and catches but the eagle is always the same and very easy to recognize once you become familiar with it. I beg everyone to learn this eagle as this is the most common fake encountered on this forum.

As already having been confirmed - a fake.

"Infanteer" has quite rightly isolated one of the main and obvious indicators of a "problem", by the very distinct and pronounced triangulation of the breast feathers.

The fakes with this type of catch and the support of spurious Overhoff stampings, do however make this fantasy buckle just a little different.

The catch is incorrectly positioned and also, the style, size and impression of the O & C ges. gesch. font, is totally wrong.

          Regards,

          David

            Guys,

Thanks for confirming my suspicions (based on the seller) regarding this buckle.

Perhaps not really necessary chaps, however here is a trio of the famous O & C ges. gesch. stamping.

              Consistent I think.

              David
