even if David is more experienced about SA argument, in my opinion your buckle is an original one.
Anyway a back pic of the buckle only will help to confirm what I state.

I fully support your assessment Ric - an original SA buckle.

The buckle and even without a view of the claw assembly, is very distinct. An unusual eagle by the shape of the head and one, found with both mobile and sunwheel swastikas.

The claws will be the frighteningly distinct, clumsy and almost "home made" cast brass variety, that have been discussed so many times before on the forum.

These absolutely dreadful and yet still original claws, are now known on original Der Stahlhelm, Jung Stahlhelm, DRK and SA buckles, to name only 4 organisations.

The buckle is often erroneously sold as a fake and I must admit, one that is not everyones "cup of tea".

Perhaps and prior to displaying this SA buckle on the e-stand, the forum may have the benefit of a reverse view ?

Not a madly expensive buckle though.

It would probably sell within England for say GBP 40/50.

Rather like the aeronautical assessment of the Bumble Bee, being quite incapable of flight by how the poor thing is "built" - although of course, it jolly well does fly !

This SA buckle and with others, in theory should not really be in existence when considering the high standards otherwise encountered by the various and period manufacturers.
