A very odd buckle.

Bismarckbund der Deutschnationalen Volkspartei.

I know nothing about the buckle other than the Reid mention of this organisation being right wing, pro monarchy and protestant.

Does anybody have any information ?

This is a very heavily restored buckle, as an excavated example. The copper leeching can be clearly seen, following the obligatory acid bath by the finder. In addition, the pin shroud and claws are not original to the buckle, although are period.

I had all but forgotten about this thread, however many thanks for the link.

If nothing else, I thought that this buckles method of affixing the emblem to the box, would have been the subject of comment.

A loose translation and which could be posted here for the benefit of the forum, would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I will try to give a translation (sorry, my english is not the best):

Bismarckbund der Deutschnationalen Volkspartei (Bismarckjugend) =
Bismarck League of the German National People’s Party (Bismarck Youth)

Founded 1922 in Hannover. Reich-Association of Youthgroups of the German National People’s Party. The intention of the association corresponded with the party: Re-establishment of the German Monarchy with the colours from the Reich-Flag Black-White-Red.
1927 the league counts 35.000 boys and girls, 1930 40.000 members within 700 “Marken“ (groups), mainly in the north and the east of the Reich. The league was liquidated in June 1933, because of so-called marxist infiltration. The members went into the Hitler Youth.
