Hi guys, need your opinions out of interest really. I don’t understand why the buckle tab is on the wrong way round on this example. The tab seems to match the buckle but surely it should be the other way around. Do you think this is a wartime repair or an error made by the manufacturer?

Hi Ben,

I remember well having seen one buckle with the stamp on the other side of the tab, and also one with stamps on both sides, these two buckles were undoubtly good.
I can't imagine the necessity to repair a tab on a buckle, the idea of an error of manufacturing seems better.
I understand your concerns as it is marked Dr F & Co, like the majority of the fakes on the market. However, this one looks OK.
Maybe someone on the forum has the same buckle of the same manufacturer to compare with ?

Is not the buckle a "Dransfeld" ?

Hi David, the buckle is D&C same as the tab, it is the fact that the tab is reverse to what it should be. I have not bought this buckle, I saw it on a site and was interested in the fact that the tab was reversed

This is probably of little use to you, however I know that the question of "reverse" leather tongues has been discussed before on the forum. I cannot for the life of me find the past thread, although if I remember correctly, the feature was accepted as a period oddity and nothing to worry about.
