Thankyou for keeping this very interesting thread flowing.

    Robin

Now that we have all seen your super "Wehrwolf" collection, it now makes blindingly obvious sense as to why you are so enthusiastic about the subject, to include the buckles. What however is the significance of the Wolf-Hook to the organisation, as shown on your final image of the period publication ? The photographs of the Wehrwolf members are theatrically spectacular.

    Christian

Great image of one of the "Wehrwolf" buckles in wear.

    Regards,

    David

Here is another one with Imperial buckle. It seems they wear many times the Imperial buckle, maybe one of the reasons for the rarity of the Wehrwolf buckle?!

That's a great picture Christian......also because of the Brunswick TK on the cap band instead of the usual Prussian type on the top of the cap.

            David.

In the Loens book, the Wolfsangel was chosen as the symbol of the German 'freedom fighters' who were engaged in guerrilla warfare. Here is a woodcut from one of the books, showing the wolfsangel in the Wehrwolf meeting room. The Wehrwolf groups of the 1920s (and 1944-45) harked back to these mythical german resistance fighters of the 1600s.

The wolfsangel was seen by the Nazis as a symbol of 'liberty and independence'.

The shape of the skull on this armband is like the one on the buckle being worn in the picture already posted......esp. the long bones.

An excellent & fascinating thread gentlemen. I hope to get my hands on one of these buckles one day.

                              Cheers

I have always wondered what this buckle was.... Until I looked at the pictures / engravings posted earlier in this tread.
The box used for this homemade buckle is a mid 1800 55m/m buckle base. This was done a long time ago; the wolfsangel is riveted with four rivets to the buckle.
Could this be old Wehrwolf buckleā€¦?.
