Your favorite German Belt Buckles ?

    Hello All,

Since the Forum start we saw interest for many German Belt Buckles, including WWI, WWII and even Chinese Expeditionnary ones!
So, which buckles do you like most, even if you do not collect them ?
Which threads will you like to see there most often ?
Which threads do you usually like the most or read up to the end?

I am expecting many of you Guys to reply !!

    Hello Jean pierre,
36 views and im the first to answer.Cmon guys,We rely to much on people like jean pierre to supply us with answers ,its time we provided some input!

Jean pierre,I realise that your area is more ss but i personally would like to see more in depth studies of the common army and luft buckles. These would have to be among the most common of buckles found in collections.I have enjoyed all of your ss threads but i havent seen any threads on army and luft buckles approach
the indepth analysis that ss buckles get.

I personally like all third reich buckles.I do have one ss officer that i purchased off my brother steve. He acquired this from Blaezj in poland.Who i believe you know quite well.I do hope (when funds permit)to acquire an ss enlisted buckle..

    My third reich buckles are ,SA(29-36 pattern),HJ(Nickel plated steel with belt),army(aluminium),ss officer(zinc,marked 36/42 )

      Hello Kiefer,

Thank you for your input and I hope some other members will follow your example.

You are very right when you said "I realise that your area is more ss" since my area is ONLY SS !! This is why Marc is there with me. But we also need to know what are the subjects members would like to see to better serve the community.

Thanks again for your input !!

      Best Regards

        Hi Jean Pierre.....

.....I drop into this Forum once in awhile. I'm glad you asked this question.

I like Luftwaffe officers buckles the best so far. Next is the Heer officers buckle and third the SS officers buckle.

I don't have any of the three yet, but it is juat a matter of time.

          JP,

Great idea for this thread. Too bad so few have responded. Anyway, my favorite Third Reich buckel(When I was collecting them) were the Police buckles, both EM and officers. First I liked the rather simple design but above that there are so many variations. There were so many different Police organizations and the differences in manufacturing techniques was also large. I would have to say that my current collecting favorite has to be the Weimar period. The variety of the different groups from veterans to the political factions is incredible and again the variations in style and design are endless. Unfortunately these buckles are tough to find. But then that's what makes the hobby so interesting.
To add for Bruce. If you are still looking for a Heer and a Luft. Officers I have both types.Email me at fennec@erols.com for particulars.

            Hi JP,
that's a hard question to answer. My first buckle was given to me by a vet, an aluminum RS&S Heer enlisted buckle, some 30 years ago. At that time I wanted to to try and obtain 1 example of each buckle, thinking because of my limited knowledge at the time there would only be a few to get
Collecting went on the back burner for many years but my knowledge increased and I discovered there were many organizations that had their own distnctive buckle and that those could be further broken down into many sub-groups, ie; type of manufacture, makers etc. etc.
Now all these years later I still have along way to go but have obtained at least one example (most cases more than 1 ) of most of the ones I wanted.
All I can say is that I have just always liked 3rd Reich buckles, all of them. To pick a favorite is hard but but if I can equate it with which buckles it would be hardest to part with, it would be my ReichsBahn and SS buckles.

            ps. I have a new email address;

              Favorite Buckle = Flemish made

              Hi JP,

              great idea !
I attached a pic of my favorite buckle. This was a Flemisch-made belt buckle for the Reitz Werkschutz troops. A guarding unit who protected the E.Reitz uniforms factories in Merksem near Antwerp Belgium where the Germans had a hughe uniform factory.
Other known examples of the Flemish made buckles are the WH one and the DM/ZB one ( with a "Wolfsangel" insignia )

I already asked Marc if there is more information known about these buckles ( who made them, where were they produced ???) But I think he is still working on it....
Just for the fun of it, here is an advertisement out of a contemporary magazine.

              Best
              Werner
Interested in all E. Reitz Uniformwerke items.

I like the Justice/Penal buckles, they look alot like Diplomat but are different. There are also two types the early with the preussen police eagle with swaz on its chest and the later type with the short political eagle. The justice buckles were in a silver color and the Penal in gilt.

                  good idea for a thread!

                  Hello,

I thought i would add my 2 cents-for me my favorite buckles are RAD em buckles-mainly because i have a very big interest in collecting RAD-also they dont cost as much as other buckles ie SS red cross etc.I also would like to see more threads on regular old EM Heer and Luftwafffe buckles. To be honest with you guys,I love this site, its been a very helpfull learning tool for myself and lots of others, but one of my problems with the belt buckle thread is that there are to many SS buckle threads!-I personally have no interest in collecting SS items,I will never collect SS items therefore I dont even bother to read threads or try learn about about SS items,so when the majority of the threads in this forum are about SS buckles i find myself looking in the buckles forum less and less.Again i appreciate everything you guys are doing with the site and on this the forums,Im sure SS buckle collectors appreciate all the threads and would dis-agree with me and they would probably want more threads on SS buckles, how about keeping the same amount of SS buckle threads just starting more Heer and Luftwaffe threads!just the opinion of a non SS collector!

                      favorites?

I don't really collect belt buckles, but I do collect Kriegsmarine items, so I have a few of their buckles.

                      They're pretty nice!

And here's an RAD EM buckle for Yancy!

(Gee, maybe I do collect buckles.... )

                          Hi Guys:

My favorite German Belt Buckle is the early Luft. EM with unit marked tabs.
I also like any buckles with a crank catch and any buckles with RZM tags.
I don't have many at the present time but hope to have more to talk about in the future?

                              Hi Jean Pierre:

The only buckles I have with RZM tags are Hitler Youths, DAF and Political Leader.
I am always on the look out for others to add to my collection.
