Police rig...or not

I purchased some American WWII artifacts to get a .45 1911A1 and after the sale the guy asked me if I was interested in the German stuff that came home with the rest of the things I purchased. So I bought it.
I am curious about the rig, belt and buckle combination to see if anyone thinks the set is original? The belt is marked 1940 and I can't tell who the maker is. The buckle is marked B over C, that's all I can find, and the pistol is Police marked....from what I can tell. But this isn't the PPK forum so I'll stick to the belt/buckle. Does this make any sense?

A rather pleasant and quite desirable Wehrmacht-Heer buckle by the well known Gustav Brehmer.

The makers name and date of manufacturer can be clearly seen on the leather tongue, although your reference to the BC marking on the buckle is actually GB, as the makers logo.

The strap is interesting and not in simpatico with the buckle, however there is a slight chance that it could be 1930's era Polizei or "civil" related.

More images of the strap perhaps and in particular, toward the adjustment tongue, ink stampings and the buckle hook, would be welcome and potentially interesting.

Not madly good news on the strap, although really not my area
of collecting. Appears to be an Imperial or early Weimar era strap that had been crudely reduced at the catch end.

Probably a period conversion however and of course, the hook catch is damaged.

A super colour strap though and that is what caught my eye in the first place.

No idea about the strap markings and perhaps, one of the forum members who specialises in Imperial era buckles and straps, may be able to help.

Thanks very much for your time and effort to help identify the belt, rig. This entire rig was reported to have been taken off a German soldier shot in late 44 or early 45 and taken by a soldier of the US 29th Division. The American soldier was not involved in the fight, but was coming into the battlezone a day or two after the fight and picked this off a German that had been killed prior to his arrival.
