It'll Only Take A Second. Honest!

    Hi Everybody!

Sorry to be a bore but (breathe in) would somebody mind just giving me the nod on these two buckles. I've had a go at authenticating them myself but buckles are a very new thing to me. I only have one other and I know that's okay.

Anyway, I read Jean-Pierre's posts on SS buckles and I think it's okay, except for the prongs which don't seem to match.

The other buckle I'm pretty certain is the real mccoy but as I said I'm no buckle man.

If somebody could tell me if they're okay and approx. how much I could expect to pay I'd be most grateful.

    Cheers,

    Toby.

          Hello,

The SS Buckle (marked 155/40) is an East European fake.
The SA (without prongs), I leave others reply.

            Jean Pierre,

Thanks for your time but if you don't mind could you just explain to me how you know it's a fake. Is it something really obvious (to a more experienced eye than myself)?

            Thanks,
            Toby.

Hi Toby, as I have just had a camera for Christmas, here is a pic of my original Assman 155/40 buckle for you to have a look at.
              Cheers, Ade.

Hi Toby, I hope the pics were of help? I can't venture much of an opinion on the SA buckle. To me it looks "OK", but then I am not an SA collector. I would pass on it due to it's poor condition, unless it was very, very cheap . SA buckles are not rare and should not be that expensive, so I would wait for a nice one to come along.
                      Cheers, Ade.

                        Hello Toby,

Please read these threads and you will know what are the differences. Adrian posted an original as well, variant you will find in part 2.
Part 5 deals exclusively with fakes like your and differences are explained.
