    Tropical Web Belts Question

How can you tell a genuine pre 45 German web belt from say.. a post war manufactured one?

Is the weave different like regular post war webbing? Post war is usually a heavier or thicker weave? Am I correct in assuming this? Is there something else I should look for like the tongue with the holes or the metal catch?

The reason for the questions is there's a guy here in Louisville that has a bundle of them for $90 each and I'm not sure if they're good or not.

I'd like to fit one on my Tan/Water smock.

Ken you mean at the SOS? Because there was a guy at the show with a bundle of them all different makers/sizes for $90 a piece. I case you are wondering they were all original as I picked through them and purchased one for myself.

To sorta answer your question they have a distinct web, the leather is stiched a certain way. Not hard to tell them apart from fakes.

I saw the same guy too. That's why I asked that question. As a matter of fact there were several guys with alot of web belts. One guy had a bunch tied up with a cord and another with a box full. Kind of spooked me. Just about all of them had rusted catches. Needless to say I didn't buy any and it's probably my loss since yesterday was my last day at the show. Too bad you had no way to reply earlier. They were a good deal if real. I need one about 100 cm's.

Ken, they are around I wouldn't worry about finding one, If you have a few extra $'s Gerard Stezelburger had a few nice ones as well(check his site). Giorgio had nice mint sets (officers and EM)

          Agreed
Gerard does have them for $150 on average. I've been in contact with Giorgio and talked to him at the show too briefly. Gio had some killer DAK items. You see some of Gio's stuff?
