Hi there, buckle is a post war West German Army buckle. These were used after the war by the new Bundeswehr or German Federal Armed Forces.

Apparently introduced in 1960, these are worn with parade dress only by all ranks of the Bundeswehr army and air force from lowly Schütze/Flieger up to full Colonel. In 15 months of military service, I only ever wore mine once, for the swearing-in parade. The exception is the MP, who wear this buckle on a white leather belt with cross-strap with the duty uniform.
