LUFT OFFICERS BUCKLE - Opinions needed

What do you all think of this Luft buckle? I don't believe it to be original, but it was found in a deceased vets safety deposit box and has not seen the light of day for many, many years. Does it look as if the wings touching the sides or is just me? Thank you for your opinions.
