    Is it really impossible...

...to find a good photo of Hitler wearing his brocade

I've seen some shots, but usually the quality is not good enough to identify the buckle. I know also about a color (!) film material, but it shows Hitler just from the back. It looks like the brocade is silver with golden stripes.

    Anybody more informations?

    AH brocade

    Hello,
I have raised this very interesting question before and not got much response.
I have seen very few pics of this elusive brocade -- one b/w pic shows AH sitting looking bored while wearing what looks like a silver & gold brocade while Mussolini signs the treaty that made them Axis allies (1938, I think). Another b/w pic shows him with white tunic and silver & gold brocade escorting a Russian film star. The only colour pic I have seen is a grainy film that showed AH marching by with what looked like silver and field gray brocade, just like the army officer version. The buckle in all the b/w pics looked to be like the oval forestry one with national eagle and large oakleaf wreath.
The Angolia book shows a similar gold & silver brocade and gold buckle that supposedly belonged to Brueckner. Can anyone fill us in on this Brueckner and his belt? Maybe he was slavishly copying his Fuehrer on the belt front?
Where did this elusive brocade get to? Where can I buy it ? (as if!) Did the Russians get hold of it at the end of the war? I believe they have some of his uniforms stashed away.
    Inquisitively yours,
    Kevin

      Hi Christian,

Just watched a color documentary "WWII In Color" last night on PBS television. It was actual color footage, not modern colorized shots and it showed Adolf walking by while wearing his brocade. Wasn't paying attention and quick enough to see which buckle he had on, but the brocade definately looked like the standard Heer type in silver with two green bands.

If the program comes on again soon, I'll record it and see if I can't glimpse a shot of what type buckle.

      Regards,

      Gary
