    Private purchase belt?

I recently picked up a belt that I believe to be private purchase. It has the riveted catch and the stitching for the tongue is done so that it is not visible from the front. Finally, the back is covered with a wool / felt material (or at least it was before the moths had a feast !!! moremad ) that covered the entire length of the belt. It is not patent leather so I assume it is not a parade belt. Can someone give me some more details on this style of belt (issued, private purchase, walking out dress, military, etc...)? I have seen post war belts with the riveted catch but this does not appear to be post war. Any imput would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello Infanteer,

Posting a photo to see your belt catch could be valuable.
I know you can't do it by yourself since you need to be an "Association Member" ($20/year) for that, and I invite you to become one if you plan to upload many photos in the future.
But, for the start and few of them , please send me such photos to my private address jpredeu@videotron.ca and I will do it for you.

The belt shown is indeed a private purchase belt for wear with the dress tunic.
This type of lined belts where very popular with imperial period buckles but also often used during the Weimar period and the pre war nazi period. Lining colour is usually dark bleu to light grey and the belt sometimes shiny varnished.

Thanks Marc, that's exactly the type of info I was looking for. Virtually all of my experience has been with combat equipment and the private purchase / parade items are something I need more exposure to. Thanks to Jean for helping with the photo's.
