    Officer's service belt for comment

    I would appreciate hearing any comments with regard to whether this belt/buckle rig is of original WWII era manufacture.

    Belt is slightly wider than two (2) inches. Belt features leather 'hardware' for the addition of a cross-strap as shown in the photos.

    Buckle features two circular marks on the backside. I would assume that these are ejection marks from the mold.

    Something odd - the buckle's prongs dont align properly with the triangular recesses on the pebbled buckle. This can be seen from the photos. Also, one prong is magnetic and the other is aluminum. The thread used in the area of the buckle is different (thicker grade) than what is used on the cross-strap leather. Perhaps a field repair to correct a broken prong?

    Any comments would be appreciated.

            Looks original to me. The prongs look like they got bent at some point and is probably why they don't line up.
