    Opinion on belt... HJ??

I would like your opinion on this belt... HJ??... It is mint and unused.

It is not made of leather... It seems to be made of pressed paper... I can see different layers when I look at it through a magnifying glass.
It is maker marked and dated 1939 and is marked size 80

Has anyone seen belts like this?... with this type of maker mark.

    Regards
    Gary

The belt looks to be a good one.
These are indeed made of compressed paper.

I have one that is marked with an rzm mark,L2/2476/42.

            Looks ok.

Appears to be a classic "presstoff" strap as laminated paper with a simulated pigskin finish.

Wonderful condition and the size would suggest HJ.

              Who is the maker ?

              Regards,

              David

The maker is ( FRANZ REISCHAUER 1939 ) I can't make out the rest but I'll guess and say ( OBERSTEIN )

Yeah, strange. Plus, the typical oval manufacturer's stamp for a buckle tab, not typical for a manufacturer's marking on a belt at all; plus, not really the type of marking one'd expect on a party belt of that time, although the belt hook certainly indicates party... ?

                    Regards, Karl

Perhaps a period oddity reference the markings?
I like the construction and materials, almost identical to mine except mine lacks the simulated pigskin inner and the markings on mine are in the traditional layout.Mine is also later made being 1942.

This may seem like a silly question, however is Franz Reischauer of Idar-Oberstein, aka F.R. or F.R.O. ?

I know that this company had a LDO and RZM M9 assignment, although did they actually manufacture belt buckles ?

I am sure that there has been past correspondence on the Forum in relation to fake Wehrmacht-Luftwaffe buckles in aluminium, displaying the letters F.R. and the last two numbers of a date.

                        Any thoughts ?

                        Regards,

                        David
