    First Pattern NS-Studentenbund ?

Does anybody have any more thoughts about this one ?

Generally referred to as the first pattern NS-Studentenbund, although I am not so confident. The "diamond" attachment and logo certainly suggest a youth or student association, however it may instead be the emblem of some unknown NS group.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

I recently posted what I think is an early NSFK buckle (not SA/SS !!).

The construction is interesting, as toward any split pin attachment buckle, I usually avoid like the plague. The catch did however have a distinct ridged band and which I recognised as familiar. An interesting feature toward a buckle (the early NSFK), which is very heavily faked.

Anybody else with an Imperial or Weimar "box" displaying a similar catch ?

    Regards,

    David

it is very similar..please let me know your thoughts...this is a nickel over steel buckle..it is one of the misfit manufacturers that was still putting their logo on the buckles after the RZM forbade it...M4/59 Adolf Baumeister...Chad

Thankyou for the great piece of detective work Chad.

I should mention though that you have shown a rather super and what I think, is probably a very rare HJ-Koppelschloß. A really great and distinct buckle by the combination markings.

Yes - the same "c" catch with the distinct ridge.

The question now is (a) is this ridge a "fingerprint" detail of a Baumeister buckle or (b) was Baumeister and others, buying in selected component parts for their buckles ?

                    I wonder.

                    Regards,

                    David

                    p.s. - impressive new avatar Chad !

                      Fantastic work chaps!!!

My Baumeister HJ had the catch. As for your questions David, I don't believe in answer (b). A large maker of metal items would not buy a piece of bended wire from another factory.
But there is unfortunetly a variant (c), of course another maker could use the same machine!

I will keep my eyes open now for Baumeister buckles!

Christian has made a good point that I didnt think of...I agree with Christian, that if you are manufacturing buckles yourself, you surely wouldnt buy the U catch from an outside source...but what if you bought the machine that cuts and shapes the U catch from a machinery manufacturer??? this is a great question!!! Christian/David have either of you ever interviewed anyone who ever worked in one of the buckle production facilities????? the answer lies there..I do know that here in the US large production facilities build alot of there own machinery in house....but I dont know if this was the same at that time in Germany...a question for a buckle manufacturer ..Chad
