Hello all,
This is a post war East German youth buckle; the equivalence of the wartime HJ.
Nothing has changed really, the catch with small feet is typical for post war productions but can be found back on period pieces also.
The prong-sleeve is simplified by having the prongs going directly into the sleeve without the extra thickness; This procedure has also a precedent in pre WWII buckles where on occasion one can see the prongs going like nails trough the prong sleeve and even trough the prong bar.
The ears of the buckle are of the right size and in all ways exactly the same as the WW II ones. Only the prong bar is crudely made. No rivet style ends like on all the wartime and earlier productions.
