Btw, it could be an useful idea to put together all the variants posted in the past years : IMO this thread could be the right place, what about fellows ?

Perhaps the Jolly Roger is in all of us - metaphorically and not sexually that is ! The Totenkopf image is of course very emotive and there is perhaps a fine line between attraction and repulsion.

Personally, I think that this family of buckles is wonderful, however they are of course ultra rare. I agree that it would be a good idea to try and use this thread to collate some examples of the various Wehrwolf buckles.

      Here is another one.

      Regards,

      David

          Hi All!

          I love these cool-looking chaps!

Here is another variant as shown in the Steinhauer & Lück catalogue.

          Regards,

                Hello All,
                <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
Unfortunately, as it happen many times, these catalogues are not dated….(not printing date nor publishing dates) and one only can guess the date appreciatively.
                <o></o>
I own two different ST&L publications with this buckle advertised.

-One with an SA buckle and a few left wing buckles. Deduction it must be before 1933 and probably before 1931 (SS buckle introduced in 1931)
                <o></o>
-One with an SA and SS buckle and NO left wing buckle. So probably 1933 as some versions of NSDAP buckles shown ( HJ , nsbo, FAD) where replaced after that year and all left wing organisations where off course forbidden….
                <o></o>
                Marc

Sorry, no further informations available. My reference is the Catella book, wich shows these two from Marc described ST&L publications.

Thank You Guido for the feedback! I knew Francis's did not have any other lead other than the obvious previously posted by Marc.
I thought you could have something of your own.
                    Thanks again.

                      Marc,

since the thread started in November 2002, are you able to add other Wehrwolf variants ?

                      Thanks in advance

                        Wehrwolf buckle

Here is my other Wehrwolf buckle. Guido, as you can see mine is a bit different then the one you show, and is missing the right eye but never the less a very rare variation.

Thanks for showing, Bill. It is really nice to see another example of this type. I like your buckle because there is still much silvering on it.

It is the third one (incl. mine and another one from a German collector) that I have seen till now. Maybe interesting to note: All three buckles have different boxes!

                              Regards,
                              Guido

                                Bill,

by the pic the shield bearing the death head emblem looks applied to the roundel, am I right ?
Is it the same for yours, Guido ?
