GBJ Regt 138 Marked - Belt & Buckle

Just got this on Friday. If this one could talk! Actually came from the daughter of WW2 Navy Vet who traded something Japanese for something German with one of his boyhood friends after they came back from the war.

Belt is sized 95 and 1938 dated and the buckle is unmarked.

Anybody have a good rundown on GBJ 138? I know they were part of 3rd GB Division and went to Narvik, but that is about it.

Search these forums and you'll find some info about GJR 138.

A note on the regiment and Narvik. The regiment itself did not participate in the Narvik campaign. What actually happened was that the 2, 3 and half of the 6 Kompanie were airlifted by Seaplane to Narvik from Trondheim in order to reinforce Dietl's beleaguered GJR 139.
GJR 138 was landed at Trondheim and was tasked with taking that city as well as the nearby airfield of Værnes. It met with very little resistance appart from one fort, called Hegra which held out for a number of weeks and caused the Germans some real problems. In May after the Trondheim area was secure parts of the regiment pushed Northwards as part of 'Gruppe Feurstein' and fought several actions against both Norwgian and British troops.

9./GJR 138 was defintely not present at Narvik.

Thanks Simon for the rundown on the GJR 138. I guess the best research is to find out what the 9th did.

            Glad you like it Harry!
