Variations to the RAD design

It may have been mentioned before, however the 1936 RAD and which was designed by Egon Jantke, seems to be one of the most consistent designs where manufacturers variations or aberrations, are seldom seen.

There is reference though to an official and slight change, in 1938.

Attached are images of two private purchase or parade RAD buckles, with each, displaying slightly different roundels. In particular, the shape and size of the spade is slightly different, together with the size and positioning of the swastika. There is also a difference towards the ears of corn and their whiskers, although I think that this is quite insignificant.

I wonder, could someone post a one piece and die stamped aluminium RAD, which is dated either 1936 or 1937. Mine are either 1938 or 1939 and I would like to make a comparison.

i have a rad one piece aluminium rad from rss dated 1936 on the leather tab.

At last - a 1936 RAD !! Many thanks and although a little worn, it shows all the detail that I was looking for. Incidentally, do I detect a uniform protection device on this buckle ? Odd that I see these most often on RAD.

The "double stamped" 1938 RAD however is great and I wonder, how on earth did this buckle pass inspection by the manufacturers. Does the reverse have a grey paint ?

Looks like the protective coating found on some alu buckles, notably DRK, and which to me is always a good sign.
