As you know, I have and by a previous and recent thread, "lead with my chin" in connection with PL buckles. I have no interest whatsoever in this buckle, although I certainly see plenty of them for sale, with the condition ranging from quite mint, to distinctly tired and distressed.
The M4/77 just seems to be one of the uncommon marks.
One thing about GGL though is that the quality is always very high.
Attached is a GGL marked Polizei and I think that the detail is really quite exceptional.

Looking at your MINT Police buckle, I can certainly appreciate the beauty and workmanship that went into Gebr. Gloerfeld buckles. Absolutely stunning example you have there!
The latest Heer buckle added to my collection this year is this tabbed and 1938 dated Gloerfeld piece. Heaven knows I have enough Heer buckles, but the one thing that attracted me to this buckle was the workmanship you mention. Just superb!
While not in the minty condition of your Police buckle, this Heer buckle shows only mild wear to the highlights of the eagle and retains about 80-85% of it's finish. Unfortunately, mine doesn't have the GGL logo embossed on the reverse, which would have been an added bonus, but still a keeper in my mind.
