HJ Buckle - Iron M4/24 fake?

    Hi,

i have bought this Hitler Youth Buckle with maker mark M4/24. The Buckle is iron and the "Zweidorn" is Alu. Is it real an perhaps a late war version or is it a fake? Can u post some M4/24 HJ buckles to compare?

    Greets and thanks
    Tim

Here are photos of my M2/24.....I believe that all of the buckles posted..(ie..yours,Weitze's and mine ) are all original...I dont own any steel buckles that have aluminum prongs, but I do own zinc Hj buckles made by the same maker , one has steel prongs and one has aluminum..both are original..so maybe Marc will have more to add, the zinc buckles are definately thought of as a late produced item, and if they can have aluminum prongs, why cant steel buckles??!! maybe the maker had some left over aluminum prongs at the factory...I am sure they would use them.... I will be very interested in seeing what others have to say....I hope this helped...Chad

                Tim,

Both buckles are good. Who knows why the Germans used different metals on their buckles. As Chad stated, maybe they were leftovers from other production or those were the prong bars sent to them by another company. Anyway the buckels are good and in very nice condition especially the one on Weitze's site.
