Could you possibly provide the Forum with a series of detailed images.

If for any reason you are encountering problems, send the images to davidnorth@btinternet.com and I will post them on your behalf.

    Regards,

    David

thanks for posting the pic David.
I have been reading up on others like this on the forum. Interesting.

Just need to have advise from someone if I should attempt to clean mine or leave as is.

the prongs on my buckle are not blunt though.

          Many thanks

Original SS buckle made by the Assmann firm in 1940. This is a Type 2 (marking under the post sleeve assembly).

You cannot clean it. What you have is a SS buckle which was worn and so most of its original paint is gone. Any attempt will just remove what remains of the former silver paint. Once all the silver paint is gone, the primer will follow. After the primer is gone the buckle will be bare steel and value gone with the paint ... So leave it this way

A beautiful buckle just the way it is! Why would you want to clean it?
