    Difference between LW/WH/KM Tropenkoppel (web belts)

    I've been searching online, but I can't seem to find a conclusive answer. Perhaps the WAF experts can help me out: is there a difference in tropical web belts for Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine and Heer? Online I can find all different kinds of shades: LW Blue, sand colors, green/olive green and I recently heard that tobacco brown belts can be attributed to the Kriegsmarine. So my question is: are there differences between the different kinds/colors of tropical belts and can they be attributed to certain branches of the Wehrmacht?

    I have never gotten a definitive answer to your question. The Heer had tan and green Pith Helmets so I would assume they also used tan and green belts, same thing with the Luftwaffe plus you can add on the blue web belts and the rarely seen blue pith helmets. I have only come across one brown web belt. It might be rarer than a blue web Luftwaffe. The only Kriegsmarine pith helmets I know of are various shades of tan. No real explanation for a brown web belt.

      Heer : early in green , later in sand -kaki .
      LW : green , sand , blue .later in sand-kaki
      KM : tobacco brown . later in sand-kaki

        Regarding only the real tropical belt (1st and 2nd type, with web tongue), excluding the generic 3rd version (with leather tongue), we have:
        • Heer: every shade of green
        • Luftwaffe: yellow and the rare blue



        Moreover:
        • Brown ones have not sure attribution
        • There are very rare "white" (light gray) belt associated with LW and Heer silver buckle with white web tab
